Match Report Vs Corinthians RFC
Last weekend our Seniors were away to Corinthians in Galway. The match was played in difficult conditions but it was our Seniors who got the better of the weather, opting to play into the gale force wind to start.
College made light work of the wind and rain early on with a superb backs try finished under the posts by Chris McCauilffe which was then converted by Kevin O’Keeffe. We continued to play good quality rugby despite the heavy breeze and a few mistakes from Corinthians allowed us to put three points on them. 7 mins before HT Rob O’Donovan finished in the corner for what would be his 1st AIL try for the college, the try was due to heavy pressure and Rob managed to get over the line. Just on the stroke of HT we conceded a try from a scrum after withstanding a good Corinthians spell, which included a great try saving tackle from both Kevin Slater and Cathal Gallagher. Both of whom are still arguing who actually dislodged the ball. The score at HT was 17-7.
We continued to assert our dominance in the second half with O’Keeffe kicking another penalty and tries from Ben Burns and Paul Kiernan gave college a well deserving bonus point. Good Defense a a couple of penalties from O’Keeffe allowed us to travel back to cork with a 31-7 win. Well done to everyone involved and thanks to the travelling support.
